Boat Hunting

How big is big enough? We wanted comfort for weekends for two to four and a head and galley, diesel or outboard, 30' and beamy.
Purchase classified magazines only to find not many sailboats listed. Many hours on the internet searching the world for possibilities. My first list of possibles were Rawson, Yankee, Islander, Cal, Coronado, Newport, Morgan Allmand, Portsmouth, New Bombay

11/03/07 24' San Juan, Seattle

Sue and I left early this morning to get to a boat showing at Lake Union to see a 24' San Juan. It was moored at this cool place with house boats and moorage. There were boats parked next to the houses, kinda sureal for a city boy.

Here's Sue at the entrance to the cool little floating residential area on Lake Union.

the 24' San Juan. After being on a 30' sailboat, the lack of headroom and beam was evident on this 24'. We decided that a 24' would just never do, no matter what a great price would be.

We are on our way out and heading to Bellingham to see some

26' Pearson, San Juan, Coronado.

Here is a group of photos from the CraigsList ad

Pearson 26' at Squalicum Harbor, Bellingham. It was a nice boat and well maintained. Less than 5-8" headroom in the salon.

And the winner is!

Coronado 25'.

"Coronado sailboat with a 15 horse Honda 4 stroke, good main, brand new jib, depth sounder, battery w/charger and stereo. Good condition and ready to sail."

This was the last boat to see for the day. After calling the owner and letting them know we were in town and interested in the Coronado, we were told where the boat was anchored and where we could view it from the road above Boulevard Park. It looked pretty good throught the binoculars but we needed to get on it and feel it and smell it.

These pics from a Craigslist ad. I thought it looked interesting and the size was just a little smaller than I would have wanted but hey, sometimes a compromise is a good thing to consider.

Sue called the owner and we met at the marina and went for a boat ride in a very cool miniature landing craft. The trip took about ten minutes from marina to anchored "candidate", the Coronado 25.

Storage under the starboard cockpit. Already there is a plethora of goodies stored here.

This is the hanging locker directly across from the head. Notice the radio located directly overhead so that you can soothe the savage beast within while making potty.

Sue checking out the bilge. Notice the large sink counter, I did.

The galley is generous with wood tones. My kinda boat.

Nav station in the closed position. The curtains are consistent throughout the boat. I think I will sell them on eBay, very nautical, don't you think?

What do we know about the Coronado 25?
