Leaving Tacoma and venturing out into the open sea...Commencement Bay that is. On our way to Gig Harbor and hopefully finding an empty spot on the public dock for the evening, to rest up for our next leg to Blake Island. Not to mention, I think we left our car in Gig Harbor.

The Oger is guarding the boat, delaying any intended departure. Just a few twists on the shrouds should do it. We're looking at winds somewhere around 5-7mph except of course when we cross the ferry path, where the winds die down to nothing.

The "lift" at Foss Marina. This is a great place to moore. Thanks to Allen and Randy.

The ancient 11th St. bridge in Tacoma.

Heading out to Commencement Bay, prepping the sails.

Looking towards Gig Harbor in the distance.

The reserve fleet in Tacoma and Point Defiance Marina in the distance.

Stadium High School standing watch over the bay.

Mt Rainier

Coming around to the entrance to Gig Harbor. The combination of current, wind and waves made this a moment to remember.

Mt Rainier as seen from the entrance to Gig Harbor with Salmon Beach in the foreground.

Sue's eye caught this picturesque setting as we entered Gig Harbor.

Heading for the city dock.

Just a few hours previous, this dock was completely full. So we were taking a chance that when we arrived, we would hopefully have a place to tie up or we were going to anchor. Withihg a couple of hours, the dock would fill up again and thoug\sands of tourists would swarm the dock, asking questions like, "How big is it?", "What a beautiful boat!" "It must have cost a fortune." "Do you live on it?" "Do you have a bathroom my children can use?"

The Skipper is happy to be at the end of this days' journey.

Sue and I are having our Thanksgiving feast onboard. This will be the first of many celebrations for us onboard.

Our view from the City Dock. Beautiful and very cold.

This was our course for the day. This was created after the sail. If someone would have handed this to me and said "this is your course" I would would have told them they were crazy. This is an ideal example of life; On your way to your destination, shit happens.
